Creating a Vector with GeoGebra
This guide walks you through the process of plotting a vector on a plane using GeoGebra.
Understanding Vectors: A vector is a mathematical entity with direction, sense, and magnitude, visually represented by an arrow on a Cartesian graph.
Start by launching GeoGebra and selecting the line icon from the toolbar at the top of the screen.
Choose Vector from the menu options.
On the Cartesian plane, click and hold at the vector’s starting point, then drag the cursor to define the vector’s direction.
Release the mouse button when you’ve reached the desired endpoint, and the vector will be plotted on the plane.
Creating a Vector with Components (x,y,z)
Alternatively, you can enter a vector without specifying its origin point by using the column vector notation or by directly inputting the vector's coordinates into the input bar.
Drawing a vector, whether on a plane or in space, is as straightforward as indicating its components in parentheses.
For instance, type the command v=(3,2)
In this scenario, Geogebra automatically plots the vector from the origin to the point of application.
Congratulations, you have successfully drawn a vector with GeoGebra.
This tutorial was created using a PC with Windows 10 and GeoGebra software. The steps should be analogous if you’re using the web version.
